How do you resize multiple images simultaneously?

Sometimes you are faced with resizing a bunch of images:

  • Reduce the size of images to a level accepted by your application (perhaps the server does not accept anything more than a given size) or you can only upload a certain file size
  • You want to save space (smartphones can capture HD images with very big files sizes).

Application like Photoshop can do this, but you can use Photo Gallery on your Windows 10 machine to do the same.

Photo Gallery is a desktop app that you can download from the Windows Store.

In my Desktop I have a folder with 64 jpg items with item sizes ranging from 2780 KB to 5072 KB with a total folder size of 234 MB

I bring up and choose all images in this folder in Photo Gallery as shown.

I click EDIT and Resize as shown.

The Photo Gallery Resize dialog is displayed where you can choose the size from the drop-down list.

I choose size 640 and browse and save it to my presently empty folder named Larger_resized.

I then click Resize and save button. In couple of seconds it is done.
The total file size is now 10.3 MB

The individual JPGs were from 177Kb to 201KB

The Photo Gallery did an excellent job!

Can you install Microsoft Movie Maker on Windows 10?

The answer is yes. Yes, you can.

It comes as a bundle in Windows Essentials 2012. I think if you installed it on Windows 8.1 before upgrading to Window 10, it should still work. However, you may download Windows Essentials 2012 once again and install from the bundle you need not install all the items in the Windows Essentials, you can pick and choose.

Get Windows Essentials 2012 (wlsetup-web.exe) from here:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/get-movie-maker-download

Note: You may not be able to get this file as it is no longer supported.

I have not tried this but you may try this link (the marketing manager indicated this link):
http://www.freemake.com/how_to/free_movie_maker

Microsoft site does not mention that it can be installed on Windows 10, but in fact, it does and works without any errors.

Here are some screenshots from my most recent installation:

In this screen, you choose what to install.

Once installed you can find the app in All Apps under the 'M' category.

Here is mp4 video imported into the movie maker.

You cannot directly import from your phone, you need to get it on your computer.

Good luck!

How to remove red eye from an image in Windows 8.1?

The removal of red eye is quite easy but you need to download and install Windows Photo Gallery from Microsoft site here:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/photo-gallery

Let us first install Photo Gallery.

Download this file

The system requirements for Windows Essentials 2012 which has Photo Gallery and other programs.

Select how you want to install.

Select items you want to install.

Sign the license agreement.

In Photo Gallery import the picture. This was imported from a Nokia Icon camera and there is a menu item to fix the red eye. Just follow the procedure(shown inside rectangle in the image below).

That's as simple as that. The red color just vanishes.
